I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science at ITAM in Mexico City (on leave) and a Visiting Fellow at the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies at UC San Diego (a.y. 24/25). I received my Ph.D. from NYU’s Department of Politics in 2020.
I am a political scientist studying historical and contemporary challenges to the effective functioning of the state in Latin America. My work focuses on non-state armed actors, forced displacement, and misinformation, exploring the interplay between these phenomena and political and economic development. As well as investigating the causes and consequences of these challenges, my recent projects seek to identify policies that can break this cycle, mitigating the effects of non-state armed actors and improving the integration of displaced populations. I tackle these questions by combining quasi-experimental and experimental designs with intensive fieldwork. My working papers and publications can be found here.
I teach Political Economy, Causal Inference, and Program Evaluation.
